The Estimated Dispatch Date in the product description is per item. Should you order multiple made to order items additional time will be required to fulfil your order, it is usually an additional 3 working days per item; however, please refer to individual product descriptions and delivery information.
I always send a confirmation email for successful purchases. Followed by an email advising the estimate dispatch date for your order, this is usually sent within one working day of your order confirmation.
If you do not appear to have received your order confirmation email, I recommend checking your Spam/Junk email folder as it might be there.
You may have entered an incorrect email address when placing your order. If you have registered, please visit your account preferences to check and modify your email address.

Made to Order vs. Pre-Made
Most items are handmade to order especially for you. There are a few items that are pre-made and ready to ship.
Check the product description carefully to understand if a product is pre-made and ready to ship or if the product is handmade to order.
Both are handmade but the pre-made is shipment ready while the made-to-order products are created for you.

The product(s) you receive might vary slightly from the product picture due to the nature of your product(s) being 100% handmade.
I use PayPal as my shopping cart as it has an excellent reputation for handling credit card payments safely and securely. You can pay by credit/debit card without having a PayPal account.
I employ a method of interaction with my visitors that does not compromise credit card information. Due to the safety and reliability measures, most eCommerce sites allow payment through PayPal. The transactions are relatively fast and authentic with this payment gateway.
This payment option suits most of the online customers who do not want to reveal their credit card details anywhere on online websites. Due to these unparallelled safety measures, payment through PayPal account is the best suited for the customers as well as the site administrators.
I offer layaway for any piece over £100. You pay in three instalments, one payment a month over three months, using the PayPal payment request service. If the item is ready to ship, I will reserve the piece for you on receipt of 1st installment and ship when full payment has been received; for made to order items, work will not commence until full payment has been received. All my jewellery conforms with the UK Hallmarking Act 1973.
It is a legal requirement that all silver jewellery over 7.8g and gold jewellery over 1g should be hallmarked.
Gold and larger silver items will be hallmarked by the Sheffield Assay Office as a guarantee of the metal’s quality and purity.
Each piece is independently tested and stamped to show the type of metal (e.g.18 carat). They will also have a small makers mark on the inside/back to show they came from a registered goldsmith (that’s me!)
Smaller silver items are not hallmarked as standard but stamped 925 as per the hallmarking regulations.
One of the requirements of the Hallmarking Act 1973 is that all dealers supplying precious metal jewellery shall display a notice explaining the approved hallmarks.
To keep your original piece of jewellery looking stunning, I suggest you adopt the following steps for looking after your jewellery:
- Store the jewellery in the discretely branded box when not wearing it, so it’s not open to the air and is less likely to tarnish.
- Don’t wear the jewellery whilst having a bath/taking a shower, applying make up, sun tan cream, body cream, perfume or hairspray. A good habit to get into is to put your jewellery on last and take it off first.
- Don’t go swimming with your jewellery on, as the chlorine will dull the finish.
- A build up of dirt can be removed using warm water, washing-up liquid and a very soft toothbrush.
- If you need to polish the jewellery, then give it a rub with a silver jewellery cloth which are readily available online or in the High Street and are already impregnated with suitable chemicals to bring the shine back.
- Do not use silver dip as this could damage the jewellery.

Black Kiku has lots of international customers.
All International orders are shipped through Royal Mail Signed For (and where available Tracked) services.
Black Kiku is not responsible for customs duty or brokerage fees for international shipping. These charges come from your country during importation of your package.
We do our best to apply fair shipping costs to each order.

Lost or Missing Post
If your item has not been received by the advised delivery date, please contact me as soon as possible.
Do check with your local Post office as well, or that there has not been a card left, saying that there is a parcel to be collected.
During Christmas, post can be held up for longer, particularly if shipped to the USA, as shipping times can increase by 2-3 weeks.
If you would like to cancel you order, please contact me at Melanie@BlackKiku.com or use the Contact page, within 12 hours of purchase. Any cancellation outside this period may incur costs, I reserve the right to charge 100% of any costs should cancellation occur after 12 hours.
Our returns policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. All goods must be returned in their original condition.
Personalised and/or custom made goods are exempt from being returned unless the product arrives defective.
- Earrings cannot be returned for hygiene reasons.

To complete your return, I require a receipt or proof of purchase.
There are certain situations where only partial refunds may be granted: (if applicable)
- Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to Black Kiku’s error.
- Any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery.
U.K./E.U. Distance Selling Regulations apply.
Once your return is received and inspected, I will send you an email to notify you that I have received your returned item. I will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment.
Late or missing refunds
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your payment method account again. Then contact your credit card company – it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.
PayPal refunds usually take 3 – 5 business days to appear in your account.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Original shipping costs are non-refundable, if you receive a refund, the cost of shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Customers posting from countries other than the UK will need to consider customs charges for sending to the UK, as Black Kiku will not be held liable in paying these fees and will refuse to collect item(s) from the sorting office that require a fee to paid. All goods returned to Black Kiku from outside the UK must be marked BRITISH RETURNED GOODS. Parcels incorrectly labelled will be subject to excise duty when coming back into the UK.
If you are shipping an item over £20.00, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. I can’t guarantee that I will receive your returned item.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, will vary; I will notify you of the estimated delivery time.
